Taking care of everyone, including myself

I hope you’re doing fine and had pleasant Passover holidays.
I must admit that mine weren’t easy……My parents – dad is 89 and mom 86 – are here on vacation, staying in my home for the last couple of weeks. Putting my life on hold and taking into consideration both my parents and my family when it comes to planning family gatherings, dinners, etc. is quite stressful.

All the logistics, where and when friends and family come to visit or we go out visiting them, buying and preparing food for those occasions, at the same time making sure that they are taken care of well, persuading them to go for a walk every day, watching over them that they eat properly, digest properly etc.

On the other hand my hubby and kids…they need to adjust: Hubby sleeping on a couch, kids mostly in their rooms since my dad watches german TV most of the time and so on…

I felt torn  between them at times, didn’t know whom to please how and when…guilty conscience creeping in causing me to beat myself up…Physical symptoms such as weakness, exhaustion, headaches appeared and it was then when I decided to help myself. (Do you know the saying:” The shoemaker walks barefoot”?)
Well I can definitely relate to that…

I started to tap (EFT) on my guilty conscience and do TRE late at night when everyone was already fast asleep to release all the built up tension in my muscles which calmed down my nervous system immediately.
Tears were running down my cheeks and I could literally feel the stress leaving my body!

All this self care brought me to the realisation that everything I did was just fine, I did the best I could under the given circumstances and pampering my parents was the best I could do. It’s a privilege being able to pamper them, having them still around.
Thank you for letting me disburden my heart, writing to you – as always – is so relieving!
